Bruno Mathsson; Furniture Designer

Bruno Mathsson, 81, considered the godfather of modern Swedish furniture design. Since the 1930s, Mathsson has been designing tables, chairs and other furniture based on the relationship between the body’s anatomy and its positions in sitting. From his research came the Pernilla chaise, a canvas-covered lounge combining bent wood and steel rods, and the Super-Ellipse table, whose shape combines the features of both a rectangle and an oval.
