Republican Convention

In his acceptance speech for the nomination of the presidency, Bush gave us some insight to the shallowness of his view of life in America. He did this by revealing to us his fantasy that gives a picture of what he thinks the presidency would be like. There he is in the Oval Office saying to a hostile Congress, “. . . No new taxes, . . . no new taxes, . . . read my lips. . . .” It may be macho to say “no,” but he also reveals that he concedes that no matter the outcome of the presidential election, he expects there will be a Congress at odds with his ideas. Obviously, his daydreams do not include working with the Congress.

I can’t think of why so many people found it to be such a good speech.
