Local News in Brief : Parents to Have Role in Talks on Gangs

Los Angeles police officials have scheduled a meeting with parents of gang members tonight at the Harbor Division station in San Pedro in an effort to “calm down the atmosphere” after gang-related shootings in the harbor area left three people dead and seven injured since Sunday night, a police spokesman said.
Harbor area police and gang-unit members hope to “solicit the support of parents in calming the emotions of the various gangs” and halt retaliation in the wake of the three shooting incidents, Lt. Mike Melton said.
