Californians are split evenly between the presidential candidates, with 10% undecided, according to a new poll.

Results of the polling of 1,360 registered voters showed 44% of those asked support Democrat Michael S. Dukakis and 43% favor Bush. That difference, well within the poll’s 2.7-percentage-point margin of error, puts the race at a dead heat.

The survey was conducted Wednesday through Saturday by Teichner Associates Inc. for the San Francisco Examiner and KRON-TV.
