The man who was in charge of Olympic security for the Calgary police department said there is no truth to reports that weapons seized at Windsor, Ontario, in January were to be used in a terrorist attack at the 1988 Calgary Winter Games.
“That’s totally false as far as I’m concerned,” Inspector Gord Shaw said Monday.
Shaw was commenting on a report published in the United States that said 37 weapons seized Jan. 3 were to have been used by Croatian terrorists to assassinate Eastern European athletes at the Calgary Games.
