Bank Stakeout Was a Little Late
A hostage drama took a bizarre twist today when scores of police and FBI agents surrounded a Nashville bank after two men seized four hostages and then vanished.
Police said the men broke into the Third National Bank through a rear window sometime before it opened early today. Four employees, a man and three women, entered the bank before a fifth spotted one of the gunmen on her arrival and fled. The robbers apparently realized they had been spotted and fled. Minutes later, the bank was cordoned off by police unaware of the escape. The massive stakeout lasted about four hours before the hostages emerged.
