Hawthorne Boulevard Storm Drain Work Begins Tuesday

Share

Storm drain construction on Hawthorne Boulevard between 242nd and 238th streets is expected to cause traffic snarls in north-traveling lanes for up to four weeks beginning Tuesday, and motorists are being advised to seek alternate routes.

Larry Weeshoff of Channel Constructors, Irvine, the contractor for the Los Angeles County Flood Control District, said that only one lane of Hawthorne Boulevard will be open to northbound traffic between 242nd Street and Pacific Coast Highway. Two northbound lanes will be open between Pacific Coast Highway and 238th Street. Past 238th Street, three lanes will be open. Weeshoff said southbound traffic will not be affected.

Motorists traveling east and west on Pacific Coast Highway and attempting to turn left or right onto Hawthorne Boulevard may also experience traffic congestion at that intersection.

Suggested alternate routes include Rolling Hills Road between Hawthorne and Crenshaw Boulevard, or Newton Street between Hawthorne and Pacific Coast Highway.
