Hughes Aircraft announced several management changes at its Missile Systems Group in Canoga Park.
Barry L. Abrahams, manager of the group’s Naval Systems Division, was appointed group vice president and manager of the newly formed Intercept Systems Division, which expands the naval division to include some portions of what was Hughes’ Defense Systems Division.
The remaining part of Defense Systems will be merged into the newly formed Advanced Design Division, which will focus on new missile system designs and is managed by Alfred K. Higashi, formerly manager of Defense Systems.
Georgia C. Oleson Dankanyin was named a group vice president and continues as director of human resources.
Group vice president A.S. Marino, manager of the Missile Development Division, is now group vice president of engineering. He remains acting manager of missile development, but also directs engineering at the group’s advanced research and design center at Canoga Park and at its production facility in Tucson, Ariz.
Robert W. Knowles was named manager of the Strike Systems Division, whose programs include the Maverick air-to-ground missile family. Hughes is a unit of General Motors.
