Betts Leads Aztecs Past Fresno State in Soccer

Jeff Betts scored on a rebound from 20 yards out in the 70th minute as the San Diego State men’s soccer team defeated Fresno State, 2-1, Monday at Aztec Bowl.
Marcelo Balboa scored on an assist from Eric Wynalda in the seventh minute to give San Diego State (2-0) an early lead. Fresno State is 1-1-1.
In women’s soccer, UC San Diego’s Felicia Faro scored from 40 yards out with 12 minutes to play to lift the Toreros over United States International, 3-2.
Katy Dulock scored two first-half goals for UCSD. It was the season opener for both teams.
