The median prices of homes bought by first-time buyers range from $50,000 in the central states to $110,000 in the East, and from $55,000 in the South to $87,000 in the West, the poll showed. First-time buyers in upscale markets such as New York and Los Angeles face median prices of $160,000 and $150,000, respectively, the survey showed.
