San Dimas : No Bidders for Horse Center

Share

Opponents of a planned 500-horse equestrian center in Bonelli Regional Park got an unexpected boost last week when no developers submitted proposals for the project.

About 12 companies had received information detailing county plans and expectations for the center, said Michael Kriste, the park and recreation department’s supervising contract analyst. County officials are trying to figure out why none of the companies were interested in developing the center, Kriste said. He said the high cost of complying with environmental demands may have scared some off.

The 16-acre, four-arena equestrian complex is one of several projects, including a lodge and a golf course, planned for the 1,975-acre park. Residents are concerned that the projects will disturb the park’s natural environment.
