Local News in Brief : Laguna Beach : City OKs 100% Hike in Parking Meter Rate
The City Council has approved a staff recommendation to increase parking meter rates from 50 cents to $1 an hour.
The new rates will go into effect Jan. 1. Revenues from the increase will be used to build new parking areas for the tens of thousands of tourists who frequent the coastal resort community each summer, according to city officials.
The affected meters are located in Laguna’s central business district, as well as along Cliff Drive and Laguna Canyon Road. The council agreed also to install 164 new parking meters in the city.
