Steve Friedman, executive producer of the new “USA Today: The Television Show,” on the happy positive attitude of the program: “We can’t go out and say, ‘Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. The Dow Jones industrials lost 200 points today, but don’t worry, there’s still 2,000 to go.’ ” But, he added, “We would rather deal with problem solvers than problem causers. We’re not saying that dealing with problem causers is wrong. . . . We choose to do something else.”
