Unemployment and the Market

I am appalled by a society in which economists “greeted enthusiastically” the fact that more people were out of work. The Dow Jones average leaped 52-plus points.

Is this where our American values are? We celebrate when more people have no work, go hungry and there are more homeless on our streets?
