H & O London Ventures Acquires Stake in Calgene

A group of investors has acquired a 14.9% stake in Calgene Inc., a Davis, Calif., genetic engineering company, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The group, led by H & Q London Ventures, bought 1.1 million common shares of Calgene for about $5.9 million. The purchase was made as an investment, according to the filing.
