Long Beach : Auto Mall Design Contracts
The Long Beach Redevelopment Agency has awarded contracts for $748,500 to develop an automobile sales mall near the San Diego Freeway.
Among the pre-development activities under way are architectural design, civil engineering, economical analysis and financing in the 81-acre survey area between California and Orange avenues just south of the freeway, according to a report prepared for the Redevelopment Agency.
Six auto dealers are negotiating with the city on the price and terms of setting up shop in the new mall. They are expected to be among nine dealers offering 15 different brands of cars and trucks.
Initially, only 35 to 40 acres of land will be incorporated into the project, with the remainder being withheld for future expansion.
