Santa Monica : Hearing on Beach Proposal
The city’s Recreation and Parks Commission will hold a public hearing tonight on educational and recreational facilities planned for a 5-acre piece of beach that is now the site of the Sand and Sea Club.
The hearing is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Room 213 at City Hall, 1685 Main St.
The City Council recently chose restaurateur Michael McCarty to build a luxury hotel and arts center on the land at 415 Pacific Coast Highway. The Sand and Sea, former site of film star Marion Davies’ estate, will be demolished.
Tonight’s discussion will be limited to educational and recreational programs, public access, and the proposed arts center. The development project is not included on the agenda.
