New Age celebrity Timothy Leary said he plans to have his own head frozen in liquid nitrogen at a Riverside cryonics firm in hopes that it will be revived in the distant future. “I refuse to go belly up when my Blue Cross runs out,” said Leary, 67, who championed the use of LSD in the 1960s. Leary said he also is recruiting friends to sign up for the procedure that costs $35,000. “I want to wake up with them,” Leary said, “with champagne glasses and rock ‘n’ roll music on the record player, if they have those things then.” The fact that the Alcor Life Extension Foundation of Riverside is currently under investigation for homicide in the beheading of an 83-year-old woman does not bother him. “Everything I know about them is that they are noble heroic pioneers in a very controversial frontier of science,” Leary said. A Riverside County coroner’s investigator involved in the homicide probe declined to comment on Leary’s plans except to say, “I hope he has a nice trip.”
