Philip Yasskin has been named president of home builder J.M. Peters Co.’s new Los Angeles/Ventura County division. Prior to joining the firm, he was with Urban West Communities as vice president and director of marketing. The new division is located in its Westlake Village headquarters.

Joanne Rowland has been made director of marketing for Newport Beach-based home builder J.M. Peters Co. Her position will cover projects in Orange, Los Angeles, Ventura and San Bernadino counties. Rowland previously served as director of sales and marketing for Trider Corp., of Newport Beach.

The Hooberman Group has promoted James F. Scovie to executive vice president. Scovie joined The Hooberman Group last November as chief financial officer. Previously he held the position of senior vice president of finance and administration for Torrey Enterprises Inc.

Susan Kamei of Lusk Center for Real Estate Development has been named deputy director. Kamei, formerly with Mobil Land Development Corp., will serve as administrative manager of the Lusk Center located within USC’s School of Urban and Regional Planning.

Richard Rosen of UCLA was a third-place winner of the Shidler Group’s 1988 real estate essay competition, the Shidler Award.

Ronald M. Izumita, a senior partner and chairman of the board of POD Inc., headquartered in Santa Ana, was chosen for a 1988 Distinguished Alumnus Award of the School of Environmental Design at Cal Poly Pomona.
