Trio-Tech International Reports 4th-Quarter Profit

Trio-Tech International, a San Fernando maker of testing equipment for the semiconductor industry, reported a $49,000 profit in its fiscal fourth quarter compared with a $342,000 loss a year earlier.

The profit for the quarter that ended June 24, which equaled 2 cents a share, came on an 8% gain in revenue to $4.39 million from $4.08 million.

Trio-Tech attributed the earnings turnaround to increased sales and “improved operating efficiencies.” The company predicted “further excellent growth” in fiscal 1989 because of increased demand for semiconductor equipment.

For its full fiscal year, Trio-Tech lost $154,000 on revenue of $16.6 million. The previous year, the company lost $1.17 million on revenue of $15.4 million.
