Sacramento FBI Sting

Share

I think the taxpaying, voting citizens are beginning to wonder, “Is anyone there, does anyone care?” Hopefully, the current FBI “sting” raid of legislators’ offices in Sacramento has opened the public’s mind and they will remember.

Senate Republican Leader Ken Maddy (Fresno) said that he cannot remember carrying the latest Moore bill, although he presented it to the Senate on June 30. He further said he did not even remember who asked him to carry AB 4203 to the Senate floor. Says Maddy, “I don’t carry bills on the floor unless there is some special reason” adding that as a Republican leader he would not normally carry a bill authored by Democrat Gwen Moore (Los Angeles). Maddy further stated that he knew nothing about the bill and was “doing a favor for another legislator.”

This is the same Senate Republican leader Maddy who recently said after U.S. Sen. Dan Quayle’s nomination as the Republican vice presidential choice, “I don’t know anyone in our group who knows Sen. Quayle.” Was Maddy asleep in his chair all these past eight years while Quayle was wide awake and marking up an outstanding record in Washington? I guess I am not in Maddy’s so-called “our group.”

I don’t consider loss-of-memory Maddy the best example of one who should have the leadership role in our Republican Party.
