CAMPAIGN ’88 : Bush Unites Two Foes

A couple of years ago they could barely stand to be in the same town together, let alone at the same microphone. But on Monday, KABC-TV commentator Bruce Herschensohn and former Rep. Ed Zschau teamed up in Los Angeles to tout Bush’s candidacy.

Zschau and Herschensohn, who waged a brutal battle for California’s 1986 GOP senatorial nomination, promised to raise $2.5 million for the Committee for the Presidency, a group that will promote Bush through television ads and direct mail, independent of his campaign.

“I’ll focus my efforts in Northern California,” said Zschau, who edged Herschensohn in ’86.
