President Reagan nudged Congress today to complete action on 13 appropriations bills before the new budget year begins Oct. 1.

Appearing before representatives of the U.S. Jr. Chamber of Commerce gathered in an auditorium of the Old Executive Office Building next to the White House, Reagan said that if all those various agency and department spending blueprints are signed into law by that date, it will be the first time it has happened since 1948. “The new fiscal year begins in 11 days, and seven of these (bills) are still under negotiation. . . . I want those seven bills on my desk and in shape to sign by Oct. 1,” Reagan said.
