Pasadena : Funeral Home Trial Date Set

A trial date of Jan. 23 has been set for three Pasadena funeral home operators who face a total of 67 felony and misdemeanor charges, including stealing dental gold from corpses and commingling human remains.

The charges against David Sconce and his parents, Jerry Sconce and Laurieanne Lamb Sconce, stem from their operation of the Lamb Funeral Home, Coastal International Eye and Tissue Bank and Coastal Cremations.

Other charges against the Sconces include illegally removing eyes, hearts and lungs from corpses for sale to scientific supply companies, conducting mass cremations, falsifying death certificates and embezzling funeral trust account funds.

David Sconce faces additional charges of soliciting the murder of the prosecutor who was handling his case and soliciting the murder of his grandparents so his mother could inherit the business, prosecutors said.

The Sconces, who will stand trial in Pasadena Superior Court, have denied any wrongdoing.
