Local News in Brief : Pipes Burst, Flood Part of Courthouse
- Share via
A 6-inch water main outside the county court building in downtown Los Angeles burst early Wednesday, sending about 90,000 gallons of water into several rooms and out into the street, officials said.
Fire units found water gushing from a garden area near the Grand Street entrance of the courthouse, Chief Raymond Olsen said, and it took them about 90 minutes to stop the flow.
Several underground rooms, mainly used to store supplies, were flooded, and five fire companies worked for more than three hours to pump the water out of the rooms, Olsen said. The flooding will not affect the court’s operation, he said.
It was not immediately known what caused the pipes to burst.
