The Supreme Court refused to stop a Flint, Mich., woman from having an abortion her estranged husband sought to prevent. The justices, without comment, let stand Michigan court rulings that Shawn Lewis has a constitutional right to end her pregnancy despite her husband's objections. Michigan's highest court had rejected Carlton Lewis' attempt to prevent the abortion, but gave him and a court-appointed guardian for the fetus time to seek emergency help from Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, who handles emergency appeals from Michigan. Scalia referred the request to the U.S. high court, which denied it.
