Two civilian workers at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard were killed when 350-degree steam filled the small tunnel where they were working, a spokesman said.

The boiler technicians were trying to open a valve to return steam to a part of the shipyard Sunday morning when the utility tunnel filled with low-pressure steam that had leaked from a pipe, a shipyard spokesman said.
