Local News in Brief : Countywide : Boundary Will Include Land Won in Drug Raid

Share

The Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday to move the county’s boundary to include a 213-acre ranch in Riverside County that was seized during a 1985 drug investigation and given to Orange County in return for its role in the case.

The boundary change has already been approved by the Riverside County Board of Supervisors and will become effective Nov. 8.

The ranch--which includes about eight houses and a vineyard, all valued at about $1.5 million--was used by an extensive international crime network to smuggle and process drugs. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department discovered the hide-out.

The county Administrative Office is conducting a study to decide how the property should be used. Its report is scheduled to be released in November.
