A pilot was arrested shortly after the stolen single-engine plane he was flying crash-landed in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. Police said neither Allen Alfred Dale, 40, nor anyone on the ground was injured when the plane, covered with political slogans, crashed into a chain-link fence. Dale reportedly jumped out, shouted, “It’s going to blow up!” and ran into a nearby residential neighborhood. He was arrested several minutes later. The plane bore such slogans as “Vietnam!” “Impeach Bush and Reagan,” “Get the POWs” and “Vets Unite.” Officers said Dale was wearing a combat-style jacket and dumped a backpack as he fled. The plane, named the “Nasty Nancy,” was undamaged. It was reported stolen from Palo Alto.
