Traffic Slows Mrs. Reagan
The President’s two-day trip to the United Nations ended Tuesday on a mildly mysterious note as his motorcade departure was delayed 20 minutes when First Lady Nancy Reagan was late.
Reporters got an explanation, at Nancy Reagan’s request: She was delayed because of heavy traffic--a constant complaint in New York and exacerbated by the diverted traffic for the Reagan visit.
Later, Mrs. Reagan said she had been having lunch. Asked with whom, she shook her head and smiled. And was the President angry? Again she shook her head, then smiled and walked away.
