Israel’s two major political parties, reacting to an anticipated arbitration ruling, accused each other of losing a tiny strip of beach to Egypt. Israeli media quoted sources as saying that an international panel in Geneva will award sovereignty of Taba, on the Gulf of Aqaba, to Egypt, settling a longstanding border dispute. Spokesmen for the Labor Alignment and the right-wing Likud Bloc, which are vying for the prime minister’s office in the Nov. 1 election, each blamed the other side for the expected Israeli setback. A Foreign Ministry spokesman said both countries have agreed to abide by the panel’s decision.
