Leslee (Honey) Alexander has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate to take a seat on the board of directors of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the organization that funnels federal money to public broadcasters. Alexander was nominated to the 10-member CPB board by President Reagan. Alexander, a Republican whose term runs through March, 1991, has served on several public broadcasting boards of directors, including the Public Broadcasting Service since 1983. She is the wife of former Tennessee Gov. Lamar Alexander. During her Senate confirmation hearing, Alexander said that her top priorities for public broadcasting are high-quality systemwide programming, stable funding and replacement of the system’s aging satellite by the early 1990s.
