2,100 Homes to Rise on Ranch

Summers Homes Inc. has closed escrow on 500 acres of the Vail Ranch in Rancho California and has announced plans to build 2,100 dwelling units on the property over the next five to seven years.

Warren C. Dodd, executive vice president of Harry L. Summers Inc., La Jolla, the parent firm of Summers Homes, said the site at California 79 and Margarita Road was purchased from M.D.C. Vail Partners. He added that grading should begin in March, following completion of the processing by Riverside County.

“We will serve as the master developer for this parcel, establishing architectural standards and the community identity,” Dodd said. “We expect to divide the property into eight to 10 development phases which will offer 100 to 200 units per phase.”
