Maxicare in southern Arizona is being sued for $3.2 million in back payments by Tucson’s largest hospital and several doctors groups. “There has been a pattern of behavior on the part of Maxicare that has reduced the level of trust. We are at the point where we need to take action,” said Tom Reavis, a spokesman for Tucson Medical Center. TMC is suing Maxicare for $2.46 million that the hospital is owed for caring for Maxicare patients. Maxicare provides coverage for 55,000 residents of Tucson and is southern Arizona’s largest health maintenance organization.
