Six young black women were crushed to death and 17 people were injured in a melee at a disco near the black South African township of Soweto, outside Johannesburg, police and witnesses said. A police spokesman said the huge Naledi Disco at the Shareworld entertainment center was hosting a music festival and that the trouble began when people trying to leave and those trying to enter began pushing one another at the club’s only entrance.
