Sexually suggestive magazine covers must be covered in Turlock stores in the future. The City Council adopted an ordinance requiring that store operators use some form of “blinders” to cover the bottom two-thirds of magazines that might be “harmful to minors.” The ordinance passed 4 to 1 with Councilman Tom Howard opposed. He argued that people who want suggestive material covered could ask the few store owners involved to do so, instead of getting a restrictive ordinance enacted.
