Santa Monica : Pier Restoration Projects

Three private developer-tenants have been selected for major projects on the pier, the Pier Restoration Corp. has announced.

Surfside Theatre Inc. will incorporate a “dynamic-motion simulator,” which will create a sense of movement similar to Disneyland’s “Star Tours” attraction, into a portion of the Billiard Building.

Longwalk Inc. has been chosen to restore Sinbad’s at the western end of the pier. The restored building will house a dance and concert showroom and show-related retail, restaurant, bar and fast-food facilities.

KBL Associates will join with the city and the Pier Restoration Corp. in redeveloping the central plaza portion of the pier. The project will include restaurant, retail, entertainment and recreational facilities.

Construction is scheduled to be completed by winter of 1990.
