Local News in Brief : Fullerton : Teddy Roosevelt’s Fleet Seen in 50 Rare Photos

Rare vintage photographs of President Theodore Roosevelt’s world-circling battleship flotilla--the Great White Fleet--will be on display beginning Sunday in the University Library at Cal State Fullerton.

The 50 photographs, selected and enlarged from 1,100 prints, have never been published before, according to Albert Vogeler, lecturer in liberal studies at the university, who will present a talk on President Roosevelt’s Navy. He will speak after a 2 p.m. reception which is open to the public.

A naval Gatling gun from the turn of the century and a scale model of Commodore Dewey’s flagship, the cruiser Olympia, will also be on display.
