Superior Industries Reports Record Sales in 3rd Quarter

Superior Industries International reported record earnings and sales for the third quarter that ended Sept. 30.

The Van Nuys-based manufacturer of wheels, seat belts and other automotive parts said it earned $2.5 million, or 40 cents a share, up 53% to $1.7 million, or 25 cents a share, from the same period a year earlier. Revenue for the period was up 21% to $45.1 million from $37.4 million a year earlier.

Chairman Louis Borick attributed the company’s performance to a continuing increase in demand for the aluminum wheels it produces.

For the nine months that ended Sept. 30, Superior earned $8.8 million, or $1.38 per share, compared to $6.8 million, or $1.03 per share, a year earlier. Revenue was $143.5 million compared to $122.2 million for the same period a year ago.
