Tribune Co.’s third-quarter net income jumped 56% from a year ago to $51.6 million. Revenue was up 8% to $575 million. The Chicago-based publishing, broadcast and entertainment company said increased profits in all three of its lines and a reduction in the corporate tax rate contributed to the improvement. Year-ago results included a pretax charge of $16.7 million for employee severance at the New York Daily News.
