The chairman and vice president of Recognition Equipment Inc., indicted recently along with their company by a federal grand jury on a charge of conspiracy to win a large postal contract, have resigned to spend time on their defense, the company said. Chairman William G. Moore Jr. and Vice President Robert W. Reedy have taken temporary leaves of absence, said the Irving, Tex.-based communications and software firm, which has denied any wrongdoing. Thomas L. Ringer, an REI director and chairman of Wedbush Corp., parent of a Los Angeles brokerage, is Moore’s successor. Reedy’s duties will be assumed by Dwayne L. McAfee, vice president of worldwide sales and marketing.
