Clogged Screens Close Connecticut Nuclear Plant

WATERFORD, Conn. —
The Millstone 3 nuclear power plant was shut down Saturday when seaweed clogged screens protecting pumps that bring water into the plant from Long Island Sound. Operators closed the plant in a routine and uneventful procedure, a spokesman for Northeast Utilities said.
