Compaq Computer Corp.’s third-quarter net income jumped...

Compaq Computer Corp.’s third-quarter net income jumped 59% from a year ago to $58 million. There was a gain of 60% on revenue of $502 million. The Houston computer maker cited strong sales of all its products, and in particular its newest desktops, the Compaq Deskpro 386/20e and Compaq Deskpro 386s. Demand for the two, the company said, is exceeding supply.
