As expected, Joseph T. Gorman, president and chief operating officer of the high-technology company TRW, has been elected chairman and chief executive effective Dec. 1, succeeding Ruben F. Mettler, 64, who is retiring. Gorman, 51, will retain the title of president. TRW is based in Cleveland.
