Walnut Dainties Make a Man-Pleasing Dessert Favorite

Share

“This is a Canadian recipe that I have used for many years,” Betty Maithonis writes. “It is a big favorite, especially with men. It is better if put in a tin and saved for a few days, if you can keep it that long.”

WALNUT DAINTIES

3/4 cup butter, softened

1 1/2 cups brown sugar, packed

1 egg, beaten

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 1/2 cups flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon rum flavoring

1 cup finely chopped walnuts

Cream butter with brown sugar until light. Beat in egg and vanilla. Mix in flour, baking powder and flavoring. Add walnuts. Spread in greased 8-inch square cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees 35 minutes and cut in squares. Serve hot or cold, plain or with whipped cream or ice cream.
