Two reputed organized crime figures were arrested on charges that they shot and wounded a 56-year-old associate last year in a parking garage near the Orange County Performing Arts Center. The arrests of Michael Anthony Rizzitello, 61, thought to be the likely heir to leadership of the Milano crime family in Los Angeles, and Joseph Angelo Grosso, 45, ended a 17-month investigation by the Orange County district attorney’s office, Costa Mesa police, the FBI and Los Angeles police. It was testimony by the victim, William Carroll, that reportedly led to the arrests. The shooting, said investigators, was the result of an apparent dispute over control of the Mustang topless club in Santa Ana. Carroll, who has a criminal record dating back 15 years, was blinded in the shooting.
