UAL Corp.’s third-quarter earnings more than quadrupled to $402.4 million. Continuing operations rose 131% to $179 million, the best quarter in the history of the Chicago-based parent of United Airlines. This excludes the non-recurring, after-tax gain on the sale of Covia Partnership interests.
