A community meeting will be held in Rancho Palos Verdes at 9 a.m. Saturday so that the public can comment on negotiations for city-franchised trash collection in single-family neighborhoods that are not under franchise. Voluntary curb-side trash recycling is expected to be part of the service.
City-franchised trash collection--including voluntary recycling--began July 1 in Eastview, Miraleste and all areas south of Crest Road except Portuguese Bend. Four companies are negotiating for the franchises in the other two collection areas, which would bring the entire city under the franchise system. The city wants to keep rates at or below $14.40 a month for twice-weekly collection.
Businesses and multi-unit dwellings are not included in the franchise system.
The meeting will be in the community room at City Hall, 30940 Hawthorne Blvd.
