The World : Sino-Soviet Border Accord

Share

The Soviet Union and China have settled most of their differences over the disputed eastern section of the Sino-Soviet border, a Soviet Foreign Ministry spokesman said. Gennady I. Gerasimov said talks will continue and that the two sides have agreed to form a working group over the western frontier. The Sino-Soviet border east of Mongolia is about 1,500 miles long, while the western section stretches about 1,100 miles. Moscow and Beijing resumed border talks last year as part of attempts to improve relations after more than two decades of hostility.
