A storm moving up the East Coast dumped a mixture of rain, freezing rain and snow on highways in Vermont and New Hampshire, and 5 inches of snow covered the ground at Marquette, Mich. The National Weather Service said the East Coast storm caused rain from the Virginia coast to southern New England. The rain mixed with freezing rain and snow to ice over roads in parts of Vermont and New Hampshire. Flood advisories were issued for Connecticut, Massachusetts and the Catskill Mountains of New York. Heavier rainfall included almost an inch at Newark, Millville and the Lakehurst Naval Air Station in New Jersey, and at Virginia Beach and Norfolk, Va.
